What Is Microdosing?

What is Microdosing?

And why are so many people turning to psychedelics in small, intentional ways?

“People don’t microdose to get high. They microdose to heal.”

how it works

Small Doses, Big Shifts

Microdosing activates serotonin receptors, most notably 5-HT2A, involved in mood, perception, and flexibility. While it doesn’t produce a “trip,” it may help dissolve mental ruts—creating space for new thought patterns, emotional regulation, and cognitive clarity.

Dosage Basics

Finding Your Sweet Spot

Most microdoses fall between 0.05g–0.3g of dried psilocybin mushrooms. The goal isn’t to feel altered—but rather, to feel gently aligned. You may notice a brighter mood, increased focus, or the absence of internal noise. With a little experimentation, most people find what works for their unique body and brain.

Members of the NLYTN Microdosing Community can select their preferred dose each month as they find their sweet spot.

Frequency & Rhythm

When and How Often to Microdose

There’s no one-size-fits-all schedule, but the most common protocols include the Fadiman (every third day) and the Stamets stack (five days on, two days off). Many users choose to follow an intuitive rhythm, pairing their microdosing with intentional rest and integration days.

Why People Try This

Microdosing for Healing, Focus, and Growth

People turn to microdosing for many reasons: to ease depression and anxiety, to rediscover creativity, or to reconnect with their emotional life. It doesn’t replace therapy—but it can open doors that talk alone might not reach. Many describe it as subtle, grounding, and surprisingly profound.

Safety & Legality

What You Need to Know Before You Start

Laws vary by location, and sourcing matters. While psilocybin remains illegal in many places, decriminalization and clinical research are expanding. It’s also important to avoid combining microdosing with SSRIs or MAOIs without guidance. At NLYTN, we provide a safe, supportive container for this work.
